Overview

Modifiers allow you to customize menu items using predefined options. They enable customers and staff to adjust items based on preferences, such as:

• Size (Small / Medium / Large)
• Add-ons (Extra cheese, Toppings)
• Flavor selection
• Drink pairing
• Cooking preferences

Properly configured modifiers improve ordering accuracy, reduce manual instructions, and standardize customization across POS, Kiosk, and online ordering channels.

When to Use

Use modifiers when:

• Items require selectable options (e.g., size, flavor)
• Add-ons carry additional charges
• You want structured customization instead of manual notes
• You need consistent option pricing across branches
• Supporting combo or build-your-own configurations

Creating Modifiers

From Item Setup Flow

After completing the Item Info section:

1. Click Save & Continue.
2. You will be directed to the Modifier Configuration page.
3. You can:
4. • Select an existing Modifier
   • Or create a new Modifier

This ensures modifiers are attached directly to the item.

From Modifier Master (Portal or POS)

You can also create and manage modifiers independently:

1. Go to Portal or POS
2. Navigate to Menu
3. Select Modifier Master
4. Click Add Modifier

From this section, you can:

• Create new master modifiers
• Edit existing modifiers
• Reuse modifiers across multiple items

Using Modifier Master is recommended for centralized management.

Modifier Configuration

Modifier Name

Enter a clear and descriptive name for the modifier.

Examples:

• Size
• Toppings
• Sugar Level
• Add-ons

You may also upload an image to visually represent the modifier group (recommended for kiosk and visual ordering environments).

Why It Matters

Clear naming reduces ordering mistakes and improves customer understanding.

Mandatory

Determines whether selecting a modifier option is required.

• Enabled → Customer must choose at least one option before proceeding.
• Disabled → Modifier is optional.

When to Use

Enable Mandatory when:

• Item cannot be ordered without selection (e.g., drink size).

Keep optional when:

• Add-ons are supplementary.

Multiple

When enabled, this setting allows:

1. Selection of more than one option within the modifier group.
2. Quantity greater than 1 for each selected option.

Example:

• Toppings (Multiple ON)
• • Cheese ×2
  • Bacon ×1

When disabled:

• Only one option can be selected.

Modifier Options

Adding Options

Each modifier contains at least one default option.

To add more:

1. Click Add Option
2. Enter the option name
3. Upload an image (recommended)
4. Set the option price (if applicable)

Option Configuration

For each option, you can define:

• Option Name
• Image (recommended for clarity)
• Additional Price
• Maximum Quantity (available only if Multiple is enabled)

Pricing Behavior

• Option price will be added to the item’s base price.
• If Multiple is enabled and quantity >1, price is calculated accordingly.

Example:

Base item: $5

Extra cheese: $1

Cheese ×2 → Total: $7

Editing Item-Level Modifiers

If editing modifiers directly under an item:

• The right side of the screen displays a live preview.
• This shows how the item will appear during ordering.

This helps validate layout, pricing, and selection logic before publishing.

Best Practices

• Use Modifier Master for reusable configurations (e.g., Size).
• Keep modifier names simple and customer-friendly.
• Use images for visual menus (especially kiosk environments).
• Test Mandatory and Multiple combinations before going live.
• Limit excessive modifier layers to avoid slowing down ordering.
• Clearly define pricing strategy for add-ons.
